BLVK H3RO

From the church to grammy noms and props from Prime Ministers

BLVK H3RO, pronounced Black Hero, is a rising star on a remarkable journey.

Over the last few years, BLVK has cultivated an exceptional track record, delivering his uplifting reggae sound. Collaborating with legendary figures like Bunny Wailer, UB40, Equiknoxx, and Skillibeng, BLVK H3RO has solidified his position as a unique force in reggae.

Even Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness acknowledged the positive impact of BLVK H3RO's music; praising his song "It Nuh Easy" for its influence on the nation's youth.

Beyond the music, BLVK H3RO has made his mark in the fashion world, featuring in ad campaigns for brands including Carhartt, Clarks, Karl Kani, Levi’s, and The Elder Statesman.

Born in Waterford, Portmore, Jamaica, BLVK H3RO's roots are firmly embedded in the island's rich musical heritage. Growing up in the same neighborhood that produced dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, he started honing his musical skills early, playing drums and singing in the church choir by the age of eight.

After high school, BLVK H3RO took an unexpected detour, working at a bank with hopes of funding his college education. However, the corporate world didn't fulfill his creative spirit. When a co-worker, also a budding producer, invited him to collaborate on a freestyle recording it marked the beginning of his journey as a recording artist.

But his life as an artist was far from easy. BLVK H3RO faced homelessness, couch surfing in dorm rooms, and even sleeping on radio station floors. It was during this challenging time that he found his identity as BLVK H3RO, aligning himself with the positive reggae revival led by artists like Protoje and Chronixx.

In 2016, he released his first project, the seven-song EP "THC: The H3rb Connoisseur." Accompanied by his backing band, the Reggae Soul Band, he embarked on his first overseas tour in 2017. His breakthrough track, "Feet Don't Fail" paved the way for his debut album, "The Immortal Steppa," in 2019.

BLVK H3RO's journey includes mentorship from reggae icons like Bunny Wailer; touring with Bunny Wailer and representing Jamaica at the World Music Expo in Portugal.

BLVK H3RO's latest release is the album "Man on A Mission." The album features collaborations with Teejay, NationBoss, and Iotosh and showcases his genre-bending sound; blending traditional Reggae with Jazz, R&B, and Hip Hop elements.

2023 was a landmark year for the rising star, receiving a Grammy nomination—the first for a reggae artist in the Best Global Music Performance category.
